Why not?!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved interior design. Back in school, it was the career I dreamed of. But I didn’t know how to get started – or who to even ask – so I took a more conventional path and became a Legal PA.
But deep down, something was missing.
That creative itch never went away. When my husband and I bought our first home, it needed a lot of TLC. We threw ourselves into the renovation and loved every second of it. Once it was finished, we didn’t want to stop—so we moved and did it all over again!
That’s when it hit me: I love creating spaces. Solving design problems. Walking into a room and instantly seeing its potential. I get a buzz from turning a tired house into a home that feels warm, unique, and truly lived in. And let’s be honest—who wants a home that looks like everyone else’s?
Over the years, we bought and renovated several more properties – some we lived in, others we rented or sold on. And I enjoyed every single transformation.
Eventually, I discovered the National Design Academy and enrolled in their online interior design course. I finally felt like I was heading in the right direction! I applied to a few design studios but was told I didn’t have enough experience. So I kept working as a Legal PA and renovating homes on the side until life took a turn – we started our family, and I took some time out to be at home with the kids. Then the pandemic hit. I found myself homeschooling in the mornings and found myself with some quiet time in the afternoons. That’s when I had my lightbulb moment.
This was the perfect opportunity to finally go for it. My own interior design business. For years people had said to me I should start my own business, but it was never the ‘right time’.
I signed up for more online courses, followed inspiring designers, and got to work. Friends and family got lots of free design advice while I tested out ideas and refined my approach. And I loved it. I was finally doing something that lit me up!
People would always comment on my home: “It’s amazing – where did you get that from?” “It feels so cosy and welcoming.” To me, it was just my home, but that was the point. It made me happy. And that’s what I want to help others feel in their own homes.
When I design, I think about flow, function, and feeling. I bring creativity, but also organisation, attention to detail, and problem-solving. Every project has challenges (even in my own home), you can’t always knock that wall down or change the layout. So I rework the idea. I adapt.
Because your home should make you happy. It should reflect you.
