Family Cinema Room
The clients in this family home in Beaulieu wanted to transform a room into a cosy family cinema room. They had already bought the sofas they loved but they were unsure how to bring the room together in a way that felt warm, inviting, and fun.
They liked the elegance of Art Deco but they didn’t want the space to feel overly themed, they just wanted a stylish, comfortable retreat where they could enjoy their favourite movies together. A unique aspect of the brief was incorporating their children’s guitars, which had been gifted by their grandparents. They wanted them to be accessible rather than hidden away.
The Solution
I designed the space to feel cocooning yet full of character, with rich, inviting tones and carefully chosen lighting that gives a subtle nod to Art Deco without overpowering the room.
The guitars became part of the décor, proudly displayed and easy to reach.
Inspired by the rich, warm tones of Art Deco, we selected a deep green for the walls, woodwork, and ceiling to create the cosy, cocooning atmosphere the clients desired. To add depth and prevent the space from feeling flat, we incorporated wall panelling on one side, providing a stylish backdrop for their movie poster display.
For the curtains, I sourced a stunning fabric featuring an elegant Art Deco pattern in blue, green, and gold, seamlessly tying the design together.
Rather than opting for a standard radiator, I recommended a sleek, sculptural design that serves as both a functional piece and a statement feature. We also dedicated one wall to their growing guitar collection, ensuring their instruments were beautifully displayed and easily accessible.
